New year, new goals, new headshot!

Top 5 tips for picking out your outfits for new headshots:

  1. Think about your brand’s colors

  2. Layer

  3. Avoid crazy patterns or a ton of colors

  4. Choose classic pieces that flatter you

  5. Choose one dressier & one casual outfit

  1. Think about your company or brand’s colors

    • Choose neutral colors with a pop of your company/brand’s colors.

  2. Layer

    • Bring a blazer, scarf, chunky necklace, or sweater to take on and off to create a variety of headshots in a short period of time.

  3. Avoid crazy patterns or a ton of colors

    • You want the focus to be on you and your professionalism, not draw attention to the crazy pattern on your blouse. Also, tiny tiny patterns don’t photograph well. They create what’s called “the moiré effect.” Google it. It’s the worst.

  4. Choose classic pieces that flatter you

    • Avoid tight-fitted clothing or super loose clothing. Find that happy medium of clothing that flatters your body type. For women: heels, well-fitting slacks, a flowy blouse, and a well-fitting blazer is classic and timeless. For men: well-fitting slacks, a button-down, and a well-fitting blazer is also classic and timeless.

  5. Choose one dressier & one casual outfit

    • Use the same pants, but switch tops or layer to create one dressier and one casual “outfit” to create variation. When Teresa took off her white blazer, she instantly created a more casual look with just her green blouse. She could also throw on a scarf or sweater/cardigan to create a different look with the same top.
